THIS & THAT
This reporter, Julia, had a big highlight of being Wing PAO on Tuesday 24 October. Cadets--Patrick Conrad, Krisdeena Eisenbacher, Louise Fawcett, Sean Frantz, Erin Lowry, Brien Matecki, Matt Pundt, Bradley Rogers, senior CPT Mike McCoy, all from Davenport Composite Squadron and myself went to Offutt Air Force Base and flew for over 5 1/2 hours in a C135B. AWESOME! The plane was refueled twice during our flight. Seeing this up close was really neat. This plane is used for filming different places in the world. This ended being an extra special trip for CPT McCoy because he is one of the people who works on the camera's that is used on this plane. He was able to see it at work. Everyone had a chance to sit between the pilot and copilot. The crew made all of us feel very welcome to be on board.
October 27-29 found over 25 members of Iowa Wing present at the North Central Regional Conference. Many of the National Directors and Officers where in attendance. Capt Doug Jansen and his crew helped transport many of those attending from and to the airport. CV Eric Schneider was our representative because COL Glasgow was at the National Boards (More on this later). Capt Jansen was honored at the banquet with the National Commanders Coin for his work in the Cadet Program. Some of our Wing Staff helped out in the different sessions. This reporter really had a great time talking with the folks from National.
COL Rex Glasgow, LTC Doug Tindal, MAJ Christie Battle, and MAJ Terry Spitzer attended the National Staff College at Maxwell AFB the week of 23 - 28 October. Another reason to attend Wing Conference because this group learned many new things that will be presented. Sounds like they all had a very enjoyable learning experience.
CONGRATULATIONS to new "LTC" Ralph Tomlinson of Central Iowa Composite Flight on his promotion. It took sometime for the paperwork but we know we will be seeing lots more of you at many of our events.
Our Iowa Wing DO reports that the planes where flown 1346 hours with year. This is up 102 hours from last year. Over 650 hours were directly related to MISSIONS. THERE WERE NO AIRCRAFT ACCIDENTS. There will be an Aircraft Operations Seminar at the Wing Conference for all aircraft units.
Remember to check your forms you are using to send reports in on. We have a new CAP Form 73.
Well, 2000 is almost over. We have had many things happening in Iowa Wing. We are all looking forward to 2001 because there really are so many things planned for all. Join us all at Wing Conference in Dubuque November 17 - 19. The Cadet Advisory Council and the Dubuque Squadron have many things planned for a fun time for all the cadets. This will also be a learning time for all.
Looking forward to seeing one and all at the Wing Conference.
