CAP IOWA WING PRACTICE EVALUATION MISSION TO BE HELD JUNE 9th, at the OSCEOLA AIRPORT. Iowa Wing will also be taking Radiological monitor training during this exercise. Missions will include video imaging, ELT search, missing person search and disaster relief scenarios. Check in will start at 0800 through 0830.
The next wing staff meeting is June 6th at Iowa City airport at 1900 hours.
FROM THE DESK OF THE IOWA WING INSPECTOR GENERAL - MAJ MICHAEL KRENZ
Just a reminder from the Wing IG that per CAP Regulations, ALL CAP units are required to conduct a Unit Self Inspection once per year. Last year I managed to visit all but two units in the Wing and accomplish the inspection as part of my visit. I then wrote the required summary of the inspection and had it placed on file at Wing HQ satisfying the requirement. Only two units have requested a visit from me this year, and with only six months left, I only have space for four more (one per month maximum is my limit). The months of September, October, November, and December are still available. My offer remains the same as last year in that all units hosting a visit from me will accomplish the required self inspection by virtue of that visit. All other units MUST do their own self inspection and submit a copy of the summary results to me and Wing HQ upon completion.
NOTE - -a USAF Staff Assistance Visit DOES NOT count toward self inspection credit per CAP regulations. I wish it were otherwise, but it is not.
FROM THE DESK OF THE DIRECTOR OF GLIDER OPERATIONS - LTC STEVE LEWIS
Our flying weather has finally arrived. Now is the time to schedule the cadet flights. Also we have developed a fast track program for seniors interested in getting their glider license. It can also be accomplished on weekday evenings or weekend mornings. For pilots that already have power licenses, this can be accomplished over a week or two. Email gliders@iawg.cap.gov for scheduling or any questions.
