This $2500 scholarship is designed to bridge the gap between solo and a private pilot certificate; a portion of the scholarship may also be used to defray the cost of attending a cadet leadership activity, such as Cadet Officer School. Complete details, including all eligibility criteria and application instructions, may be found on the Spaatz Association web site, located at http://www.spaatz.org/
We would like to congratulate some of the cadets of the Dubuque Composite Squadron. C/CPT Nicole Breitbach and C/CPT Theresa Reuter have earned their Amelia Earhart Award. C/2LT Jon Colyer and C/2nd LT Justin Meyer have earned their Billy Mitchell Award. Also Cadet Jeffrey Schwan earned his Curry Award. He has been a member for only 2 weeks. It is also understood that there is another Cadet that will be receiving his Amelia Earhart Award in the near future. The cadets and their leaders are to be commended.

THIS AND THAT
On behalf of the Iowa Wing, we extend our heartfelt sympathy to Southeast Iowa Composite Squadron Commander 1LT Wayne Silver on the loss of his father.
Twenty-two members attended the Mission Base Staff School held 13 January 2001 at the Linn County Emergency Management Agency, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. COL Rex Glasgow, Iowa Wing Commander, served as Director with COL Eugene Kellogg and MAJ Michael Krenz as instructors. This was an intense learning session for potential Mission Staff with emphasis on the new Incident Command System.
This is the flu and cold season. SAFETY FIRST - - Read ALL directions and precautions on medications and ask your doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you. They may not know that you are a pilot. The same safety precautions should be taken for driving.
We hope everyone has been safe since our last issue of Online News. If you have any information you would like to share with the Wing and any news for the Civil Air Patrol News please let us know.
