December 2000
CALENDAR
Nothing for this month. Hope everyone has a safe holiday season.
Remember: 19-22 April 2001 Fort McCoy. This is a trip for cadets and seniors. The Iowa Wing PAOs will be going also, taking their truck to help haul everyone's equipment, so there will be more leg room this year. Major Mike McCoy, Davenport Composite Squadron, will be working on the details in the next few months. BUT DON'T FORGET TO PUT THIS DATE ON YOUR CALENDAR NOW FOR ONE GREAT WEEKEND IN WISCONSIN.
IF anyone is looking for a radio for giving as a gift this year, be sure and email LTC Mercer Richardson for different types and costs. mbrichardson@cedar-rapids.net
The 2000 Wing Conference is now behind us. (More on this in the January Issue) Don't forget to put 12-14 October 2001 on the calendar. This is the date for next year's Wing Conference being held in Ames, Iowa, at the beautiful Iowa State Campus.
LTC Doug Tindal on behalf of the East Iowa Cadet Squadron and the newly forming Washington - Brighton Squadron, would like to thank the Cedar Rapids Senior Squadron for the most generous donation they made.
On 11 November 2000, Cadets Casey Schroeder and Lief Poore-Christensen and Senior 1LT Marilyn Andrews all of the Black Hawk Composite Squadron, went out on a 5-mile march in Waverly, Iowa.
These three CAP personnel wanted to show their pride and respect for the veterans. They chose this activity and marched in their battle dress uniforms as a way to honor the veterans and at the same time protect themselves from the cool 30 degree weather. They completed the march in approximately 90 minutes - - submitted by C/CMSgt Casey Schroeder, CAP Cadet Commander of the Black Hawk Composite Squadron.
This & That
Remember this is a good time of year to work on your communications requirements and to be looking at the ECI courses for the seniors. With snowy weather, flying will be at a minimum, so now is a good time to be looking into these courses. Also, make sure all your personnel files are up to date. It is a good idea to have a spare set of these for your own files at home.
Be sure to look at the November issue of Civil Air Patrol News. Iowa had a couple of great articles. Let's keep up the good work and forward all your news to this office. We like to see the Iowa Wing in the NEWS.
From the Iowa Wing PAO Staff - - We would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy holiday season.
