April 2000

This is our first issue of Online E-mail News. We hope this will reach everyone. We know that some e-mail servers do not take attachments, so this is our best way to reach one and all.

Remember Commanders, please make sure each of your members receives a copy of this.

MISSION AIRCREW GROUND SCHOOL

On 26 February, Des Moines Composite Squadron 002, presented a mission Aircrew Ground School. This was well attended. LTC Chuck McDonald, CPT Brandon Butters and CPT Ray Rusek were the presenters. All aspects of what an aircrew needs to know for search missions was covered.

OPERATIONS SAR/EX

11 March, was our first total operation exercise at Dubuque, with over 90 members attending. Iowa Wing has joined the computer age. Major Mike Krenz must be thanked for putting SARBASE together. After the group briefing the ground teams and flight teams prepared for their missions. Also there was training for LAHSO and FRO. We would like to thank CPT Ron Scheitzach and Dubuque Composite Squadron for hosting this event.

CN TRAINING

18 March was the latest training in Des Moines. IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD CN TRAINING, YOU CANNOT TAKE PART IN CN EXERCISES. YOU HAVE TO CARRY A CURRENT CN 101 CARD, CURRENT 101 CARD AND CURRENT MEMBERSHIP CARD. This was a downlink session from National Headquarters for all Wings. The next training will be in September. If interested, contact your Squadron Commander. This is for SENIORS ONLY.

THIS AND THAT

This reporter has heard from LTC Russell Smith, our Operations Officer, that the Wing has been busy transporting a dog and its handler to Peru, IN, for a school and then going back over and picking them up. Also have been working with the DNR on a catfish hunt along the Mississippi River. (Anyone interested in information on how you hunt catfish should talk to CPT Jerry Lowry of the Davenport Composite Squadron, very interesting story.)

MESSAGE FROM C/LTC BRIAN ELFSTROM, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF CADET PROGRAM.

REMINDER TO SQUADRON COMMANDERS
MAKE SURE ALL REPORTS ARE BEING SENT IN ON TIME.
